Science, Page 8!

The students used a soda bottle, water, string, & a cork to "Detect Acceleration", where the cork indicated the acceleration of the bottle.

Cheyenne, Alex, & Becca, discuss what they think they see.

Ashley & Brittni share the responsibility of moving the accelerometer.

Cole writes down some observations as Alex moves on to the next test. Tyler helps Alex watch the cork.

David takes over moving the accelerometer as Zach keeps a sharp eye on that cork.

Grant moves the accelerometer and Troy observes the cork's motion.

Kaity & Stephanie are enjoying this lab so much, Grace started getting jealous!

Jordyn & Taylor pause to smile for the camera.

Justin & Roy are totally focused on that cork!!!

Brenden stares at the cork as Laura moves the accelerometer.

Stephanie gets an eagle-eye view and Joe makes some close observations.

In "The Friction 500", the goal was to determine which of three surfaces (bare table/floor, sandpaper, or flannel) provided the most friction. The results were rather surprising!

A big group, but each had a role: Nikki prevented the car from rolling off the table (should it prove necessary), Liz timed the car, Weston measured the distance traveled, and Seneca released it to start the experiment!

Kaity times the car as Stephanie releases it.

Kyle released and watches the car as Alex times its journey.

Rick worked alone, covering all jobs himself with professional lab quality, while Erika & Carina team up behind him.

Abi times the car's travel after Jackie releases it.

Mary lets it roll as Cheyenne times it.

Ryan prepares to start the timer after Josh released the car.

Becca and Alex get comfy on the floor.

Tony releases the car as Brad & Austin block the center of the ramp. Turns out, it didn't affect the car at all.

Roy's another one who takes on all duties himself.

Alex used two timers - one in each hand - to double-test the time...

Holy synchronization, Batman!!!

The students discovered the relationship between an object's mass and its weight here on Earth in "Relating Mass & Weight".

Brad & Austin check out the camera as Tony lifts the coffee can.

Troy & Ty are busy measuring objects, while Grant prepares to record data. Andy smirks at troy.

David, Justin, & Zach are busy measuring objects. In the back, Rick is, too.

.

Grace, Rudy, Michelle, and Kaity are all measuring objects. Aly is recording data for her group.

Mary & Alex work together to measure the mass of the pliers.

Taylor does it all: weighing the tape measure, and recording the weight.

Al decides to measure an extra roll of paper towel.

Zack, Al's partner, thought the roll was pretty cool, and wanted in on the shot!

Jackie & Abi record the mass of their pliers.

Janine & Haileigh try to measure the mass of the tape measure. Jessica keeps her hands clear so as to not interfere.

JAron & Kevin work to read the balance.

Mary & Alex enjoyed weighing unusual objects - like the electric pencil sharpener!

Aly reads the scale as Grace records the mass.

Ashley checks the weight of a beaker tongs.

Courtney measures the mass of a washer as Macy tries to read the weight of the tongs.

Becca reads the scale for a tongs while Seneca records the mass of a bolt.

Tiffany measures the mass of a tongs as Jasmine weighs a pair of pliers.

Tim gets excited about measuring the mass of a fan. Ryan just waits to record data.

Ryan checks the weight of his own pen.

Tim weighs the fan.

Zach looks for some more interesting objects. He's weighing a chair!!

Now Zach's on to my school bag!!!!
